In July 2018, JaLeissa Speight began her journey into motherhood, with the birth of her son, Amir. Becoming a mother, she felt a whirlwind of emotions, as many new parents do, but overall the strongest emotion was a genuine love for this little human being. She felt as though her life was just beginning. She knew then that she wanted to work hard to ensure that she provided her son with the very best opportunities and best possible life that she could.
She wrote the book You Are My Sonshine to describe the unbreakable bond between mother and son, and shares the message of unconditional love that a mother has for her child. It is the promise that a mother makes to always be there for her son and never leave him alone in the world.
JaLeissa is on a mission to share her story with as many people as possible. Children must know they are loved and wanted, and parents hold the responsibility to make sure they know that they are safe.
